Project Summary
Our team removed and replaced two feedwater bundles for the Holland Energy Plant, a 630-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle plant powered by two gas turbines and a steam turbine. The team removed and replaced the bundles during a 10-week planned outage.
Our prefabrication shops quickly fabricated replacement piping spools to meet the quick-turnaround schedule. Because the plant was unable to provide water and ability to pressurize for hydrotesting of piping, we established a secure location with ample water supply and pressure, conducted the hydrotesting, then shipped the piping back to the plant site for installation.
Additional project challenges:
- Breaching the roof and side wall of the plant.
- Removing platforms and degraded critical piping.
- Removing the existing tubes by passing them out of the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG).
- Managing weather challenges that included tornados, lightning, heavy and persistent rain, and high winds that delayed crane operations.
