Boswell Energy Center Unit 4 Hot Reheat Replacement

Project Summary

Minnesota Power Boswell Energy Center Unit 4 is a pulverized coal-fired combustion fired steam generator commissioned in 1980 and rated at 625 megawatts (MW).

We installed monorails for demolition and installation. We also completed demolition of old piping and installation of 640 feet of new, prefabricated 32-inch P22 1.5-inch thick wall hot reheat piping, including demolition and installation of all new hangers. Our team provided post-weld heat treatment and machining of tie-point welds.

The project was completed with approximately 60 craft at peak, working two shifts of six 10-hour days during the plant outage.
