AZCO Expands Prefabrication Service Offerings in Canada

APPLETON, Wisconsin (March 26, 2024) — In a strategic move that underscores a commitment to serving international markets, AZCO, a Burns & McDonnell company, is now certified to perform structural steel prefabrication for construction projects in Canada.

Through its relationship with Burns & McDonnell as well as other construction companies, AZCO is poised to strengthen its long-standing service to utilities, manufacturers and other clients in Canada. By expanding its service offerings, the company will meet the region’s growing demand for prefabricated structural steel for existing and new critical infrastructure projects.

For more than a decade, AZCO has been certified to provide pipe fabrication services throughout Canada. AZCO’s prefabrication professionals are now equipped to work on structural steel projects for the Canada market from AZCO’s 90,000 square feet of shop space in Wisconsin. This allows for the expansion of offerings such as skids and modular assemblies, which are made in the company’s shops and shipped to Canada for installation.

“Our Canadian Welding Bureau certification not only demonstrates our in-depth knowledge of Canadian building codes but also underscores our dedication to delivering high-quality construction products to international markets,” says Al King, AZCO senior vice president for project development. “The expansion of our structural steel prefabrication capabilities into Canada marks a significant milestone in our company’s journey to provide cutting-edge fabrication services on an international scale. It represents an unwavering commitment to growth and innovation as we continue to pave the way for success in new markets.”

The timing of this services expansion is ideal, given the growth in Canada’s power sector, as well as opportunities in the oil and gas, and food and beverage manufacturing markets. Labor shortages, supply chain lead time issues and an expansion of partner projects in Canada further highlight the need for additional structural steel prefabrication resources in the country.

“We are deeply committed to providing essential construction support to our Canadian neighbors to the north, particularly as Canada’s critical infrastructure markets continue to experience significant growth,” says Earle Cianchette, AZCO president. “Our decision to expand our services into Canada represents a pivotal moment in AZCO's evolution, reflecting our

dedication to meeting the needs of clients wherever in the world they may be. By growing our presence in Canada, we are not only opening doors to new business opportunities but also solidifying our position as a leader in the fabrication industry.”
