AZCO is performing construction of solar arrays and prefabrication of substation steel for three solar projects. The projects — Bear Creek, North Rock and Wood County — combined will provide about 250 megawatts (MW) of power to the electric grid. In 2021, the team procured 1.5 million bifacial monocrystalline photovoltaic (PV) modules. Burns & McDonnell is performing conceptual and detailed electrical design, environmental studies and permitting, civil and structural design for the modules. AZCO is also delivering the substation steel for all three sites, and the team is designing and building 10 miles of high-voltage overhead transmission lines and substations.
