About

Construction and Fabrication, Nationwide, from A to Z

We began in 1949 as a small team focused on industrial construction and fabrication in central Wisconsin. Since then, we’ve grown into a nationwide contractor and fabricator serving heavy industrial markets.

Our name reflects our goal to deliver services “from A to Z.” By self‑performing most of our work, we maintain consistent quality, tighter scheduling control, and strong alignment with client budgets and timelines. Supported by skilled union craft workers nationwide, AZCO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Burns & McDonnell and is 100% employee‑owned.

Safety

Safety guides every decision on our projects, no matter the role or location. With the right preparation and habits, we believe risks can be anticipated, avoided and managed before they can become incidents. Our safety and health program has one unwavering goal: zero incidents on every jobsite. Every team member, from senior leadership to apprentices, receives essential training to reinforce thinking about safety at the start of every task. This includes detailed guidance on personal protective equipment selection and fit, proper equipment use, on‑site procedures, reporting expectations, and a shared belief that accidents are preventable.

At the core of this program is a simple promise: Everyone working on our projects goes home safe to their families each day. With a safety-first mindset, this is possible.

Project Controls

Reaching project cost and schedule goals requires the implementation of effective and efficient project controls. Our project controls team applies conscientious planning, execution and continuous monitoring of cost, schedule, material quantities and craft performance to achieve success throughout the project life cycle.

A three-pronged approach to project controls supports the team’s decision-making process:

AZ-About-icon-costControl

Cost Control & Analysis

Establish clear budgets and baseline schedules to detect deviations early and take corrective action.
AZ-About-icon-progressPerformance

Progress & Performance

Use earned-value metrics to measure productivity and conduct forecasting.
AZ-About-icon-planningScheduling

Planning & Scheduling

Develop construction-driven schedules that align engineering, procurement and field activities for maximum efficiency.

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance goes far beyond basic weld inspection. We are committed to customer satisfaction, striving for continuous improvement in construction processes, methods and materials. We work to extend equipment life expectancy and expand comprehensive safety and reliability.

Quality Assurance Training & Inspection

Before beginning work, our craft employees in the field receive formal training. Inspectors are qualified as AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs), and we develop detailed inspection and testing plans for both fabrication and installation projects.

The members of our cohesive QA team have diverse areas of experience, bringing qualified perspectives to each project to cover critical areas to be reviewed, including welding, metallurgy, metrology, nondestructive testing, and inspection. Ongoing training and certification activities establish a solid path forward for the projects we build.
